Author Joe Charogoffabout this book: This book is the first volume in a collection of poetry I'm writing. The second volume will be out soon.

I recently started writing poetry and I absolutely love it. It's this incredible and telling way to express your self, because you are forced to be concise, but also honest in a sense. If you are angry, or bitter, or happy, or concerned, or depressed, it will come through in your poetry. You can fake it a little, but if you write enough poems, it will be clear whether or not you're genuine. Good poetry is evidence of honest humanity.

My honest humanity has a lot to do with thinking about and wanting to improve something we often gloss over; humanity itself. This comes across in my poems. They are rarely about emotions and feelings, but often about fear, desire, consciousness, social problems, human history, monotony, perspective, and change.

The title, A RHYTHMIC VIEW, relates to that as well. We can perceive a personal satisfaction from everything we sense and go with the flow so to speak. Or we can also see it. We can look at and understand the actual causality within us and around us. That is what I mean by a rhythmic view; it is seeing what's there instead of only sensing what feels most comforting and easiest. It's easy to live life, but it's hard to directly connect to and deal with the life you're living.
