A. Alicoabout this book: I fell in love with poetry, and my mind continues to think, every day, in a poetic way.
But it was not until recently that I started documenting every short or deep breath my heart took.
Sometimes I find it impossible, on a piece of paper, to write.
It's the one place I surrender, this unremitting fight.
Fragments of pain are scattered throughout my words,
As I relinquish control of everything that hurts.
Ink is splattered on a page
Like a painter's
My heart is homemade
From my personal crusade.
Each time, a piece of my soul is forced to confront the truth.
Lies obsolete, my words are my proof.
Still enamored with this self-inflicting pain,
My writing, I can't control or explain.
Author A. Alico uses a poetic writing style to spark his readers' imaginations about his stories.
Through good times and struggles I have come a long way in my life. I'm at the half way point. Time alone I find what's next for me. I contemplate where I go from here in life. I feel like a gladiator at times. I have fought many battles and my scars are deep but hopefully soon what I did is enough for the emperor to release me so I can be finish with what's left of my life being something more then what a spectator sees in me.
