Fred A. Ludwigabout this book: This is the sequel to The Dragon Twins: Princess.
In the first book, we learn that Sara loves anything to do with pirates. As a child growing up, her father would read stories to her, and she quickly picked up on the idea that no one told the pirate what to do.
Set some three years after the first book, we find Sara with a ship of her own to command, and running into problems soon after setting sail. She encounters pirates upon the high seas and is attacked. Her ship is an replica of the American frigate, USS United Sates, the type built back in the 1700's. It's crew are samurai, and all the guns work just fine.
She finds herself involved in a mystery which take her into the outback of Australia where she encounters aborigines who could use her help and finds herself on the trail of those who had attacked her in the past.
Sending her children home where they will be safe, she prepares for battle against pirates only to discover that they come in various forms. Trying to continue her voyage, she encounters slave ships, and they want the child she rescues.
When these pirates challenge her upon the ocean, she is determined to fight and the Jolly Roger once more flies on the main mast.
