about this book: The Rook and The Raven was my first attempt at writing a romance. I never considered myself a romance writer and, to be honest, thought I wouldn't be very good at that genre. However, Fate stepped in and proved me wrong. I became friends with the co-owner and editor-in-chief of The Wild Rose Press. For five years straight, Wild Rose has been voted the best small romance press out there. They are a class-act, so when the co-owner said, "Ruth, write me a paranormal romance," what could I say? I mean, when God asked Moses to write the Ten Commandments, Moses didn't say, "I don't do religious stuff."
The Paranormal genre is red-hot right now, but I wanted to come up with a character new to the scene. Werewolves, vampires, and zombies, oh my, were everywhere. I wanted something fresh. In popped The Rook. The Rook is the highest of the Sentinels who were created to protect the Universe. It's forbidden for these super-hero entities to fall in love with a mortal. But this Rook has a rebel streak, and fall in love he does, with the human, Raven. A bigger than life New Orleans clairvoyant, Madame Katanga predicts this union between The Rook and The Raven will never work as The Rook can't live in a mortal world, and Raven can't live in supernatural world. Even though Madame Katanga "knows many things," the Rook sets out to prove her prediction wrong.
In my journey to write a paranormal romance, I not only created a wonderful new supernatural being, but I found out I'm a damn good romance writer after all.
