Author Joyce Kostakisabout this book: Homicide Detective, Katie Hanson's life seemed to be moving in a positive direction for the first time since her twin brother's death when she was ten and her mother's suicide just two years later. Standing in the church some 20 years later, waiting for the wedding march, Katie recalls her parent's undying love and questions if her fiancé is her soul mate. In a panic, she bolts from the church. She returned to her condo and overwhelmed with despair; she commits suicide. The paramedics revive her, but crossing over opened a gateway to the spirit world. Katie begins to receive messages from dead when she returns home from the hospital. As she learns to navigate the waters of being a medium, she finds that she is also able to see through dimensions and receives unexpected help on her current case from her parallel counterpart who she calls P-Kate. Walk-In investigations is the first in a planned series that takes readers of detective novels to a different level with a paranormal twist.

My book is unique in that in blends a detective mystery with not only the spirit world but a parallel universe to help solve the departments cold cases. It is the first in a planned series. It has a strong female character who is also slightly flawed. I believe the book will have a quick and loyal following. I came up with the title by the concept of the spirit taking over the host body to give testimony. The spirit "Walks in" to the host body to assist with the investigation.

I have always been intrigued by quantum science. I came up with the idea for the plot of Walk-In Investigations while reading an article on the Many Interacting Worlds Theory. I write from a place that blurs the lines between fiction and the many interacting worlds theory. I think the readers will identify with Katie and find her an appealing Heroine as she learns to embrace life and let go of a longing for a life that could have been had her mother and twin brother not died.
