Natalie J Caseabout this book: Five or six years ago I started writing a story about two men with paranormal abilities in a political atmosphere charged with fear. Looking at it when it was about half done, I decided that the political aspect of the story was too fantastical, too much fantasy and wouldn't work, so I set the piece aside.
Along came 2016, and I realized the scenario I had set up wasn't so out there afterall, and I pulled the story back out. That story became a trilogy of books, the first of which is Through Shade and Shadow.
This book is set in modern America, an America that is wrapped up in fear of those who are different. Mason and Alaric, the two protagonists, are the embodiment of what America fears. Mason is a Shade, a man with the power to heal others. Alaric is a Shadow, a psychic and empath.
Through Shade and Shadow is the story of how they deal with the world falling apart around them and their journey toward each other.
