Lee A. Eideabout this book: My wife Amy's death from about a decade of alcohol abuse and my own NDE (near death experience) from the effects of alcohol withdrawal -- I stopped drinking cold turkey on Christmas Day 2006 -- got me so curious about why we keep doing self-destructive things even though we know it's really bad for us. Then after I read Eckhart Tolle's "A New Earth" and "Silence Speaks", I had a come-to-Jesus moment. The answer: the ego.
The ego is the voice inside your head that separates you from the rest of the universe. It tells you that you're better and more special than everyone else simply because you're you. The ego insists on a static definition of self, thereby inhibiting personal growth (such as quitting drinking, drugs, etc.).
In my book, I explain why the ego is the ruin of human kind, individually and collectively, and show the reader how to get in touch with their true, always-changing self. I also trace the root cause of The Seven Deadly Sins to an overactive ego and show how being in synch with God, or The One Life, leads to the Seven Virtues (opposite of Seven Deadly Sins).
My system allows the reader to overcome ANY and ALL PERSONAL PROBLEMS. Either they stop engaging in the self-destructive behavior that's causing the problem of it's something that's not under their control, I show them how to accept the reality of the situation.
