In the book Dead Women Tell No Lies, my heroine, Rose Blue, tries to develop her ability to mentally communicate with her murdered twin sister, Dahlia. Unfortunately, she's greeted with much disbelief by the hero, Detective Luke Lennox. Would my readers dismiss Rose's struggle like the head detective?
Although this idea may sound farfetched, I did quite a bit of research to learn if people were born with the ability to speak with those who had passed over, or could a person learn to communicate mentally with the deceased? Almost everything I read supported the theory of developing the talent as an adult. One woman discovered her gift after being struck by lightning, and yet another after suffering a head trauma. Of course, Rose wants to use her new skill to find her sister's killer, adding another twist, but one we all share. Don't we all wish we had one more chance to say what is in our hearts to our loved ones?
