David Haynesabout this book: The Swimmer is a thriller set in a unique part of the UK called Cornwall. It is an area which is rich in history, a history which has been both bloody and macabre at times.
The story gives the reader the opportunity to explore this history whilst at the same time being involved in a turbulent mystery which takes in both the modern day and historical past of an area famed for a rugged, spectacular and sometimes deadly coastline.
I was inspired by the dramatic coastline of the area to write this book and also by visiting the many historical sites the area has to offer. Add to this mixture a horrifying mining disaster at one of the most iconic tin mines in the world (think derelict wheelhouse perched on th edge of a cliff, with raging seas below) and you have a cracking mystery/thriller on your hands!
I think this is the type of book that would be perfect to read while you were on holiday, in fact one of my UK reviewers said she was inspired to visit the site of the story whilst reading the book on holiday. For me this was a wonderful thing to hear, the location means alot to me and hearing it inspired someone else was beautiful.
what to read next: if you read and liked this book...
