John Zelaznyabout this book: For the past five years, I have been the music columnist for The Aspen Daily News. The position has had its ups and down, and in this piece I have presented my favorite moments from the journey.
When I started writing about the music scene in Aspen, Colorado I had little to no idea of what I was doing. The position was given to me in a precarious way because, at the time, I was a burgeoning novelist. I had played music in various high school bands and loved music, (going to shows anyway) but I don't think that this was even known by the paper when I was given the position. Over time, I have talked with some amazing musicians and gotten quite a bit out of most of them, often topics you wont find elsewhere.
This book is a story told through my favorite 25 articles I have written for the paper, and one that was unprintable in a daily. They are interlaced with introductions explaining where I was and how I was feeling when I saw the shows, heard the songs and talked to the creators.
