Tony Nashabout this book: Having had lots of fun writing the murder mystery series, 'Mayhem in Norfolk', featuring a gentleman detective, DCI Tony Dyce, I had the urge to introduce a brasher, less than perfect protagonist as my chief investigator, and also to move the action to the Metropolitan area.
It gave me the chance to use an entirely different style of writing, in keeping with the setting and the characters. Though I lived in London some twenty years ago, I revisited and drove around the area I needed to describe in the novel, amazed at the changes.
Carve Up is the first in a series of seven and from the first lines one can see that DI John Hunter is a mess. He's fouled up badly with the latest victim of the Badger – a panty-sniffing serial killer who exsanguinates his victims and carves a symbol on their foreheads – a symbol designed with malicious intent that he expects Hunter to solve – eventually.
