Lily Ennis about this book: This book is the result of many years' effort in achieving a minimalist lifestyle. I was burdened with house lots of furniture and house hold effects after the death of grandparents. A tremendous lot of guilt had to be worked through in passing a lot of that stuff on. I could not keep everything, no matter how sentimental the item. As I worked through that process I began to enjoy the act of getting rid of something. A new feeling came over me: joy. It was a joy of a new found freedom. The book doesn't just deal with the act of de-cluttering. In order to stay de-cluttered you need to buy into the "why." In other words, what reason is there to de-clutter and live a minimalist life? The book covers minimalism in art, architecture, consumerism, environmentalism and culture. Major concepts are illustrated with diagrams. There are many reasons to embrace minimalism but it only needs one to resonate with you. Once you embrace the minimalist lifestyle there is no turning back; you will tread lighter on the planet and appreciate every manufactured object whether mass produced or hand made.
