about this book: I really like Marvin Baines. He is having a difficult time coping with midlife. He makes many wrong decisions along the way. Sometimes I want to yell out, "Man up, Marvin! " since he makes me so mad. Despite all of this, I really like the man. He is quirky at times, and yet I find am lovable. He meets many eccentric characters along his journey, and he discovers a lot about himself, about his own human foibles, insecurities, and fears. WARNING: This novel might just prove to be a wake up call. Will you see bits and pieces of yourself, or someone you know, in the person of Marvin Baines, a very headstrong individual who suddenly finds himself confronting midlife face-to-face? Where will his often quirky decision-making eventually lead him? Should you laugh, or should you cry? Or both? You will find yourself laughing out loud at times, sometimes even involuntarily, though some dark humor does also appear.
