Shirley Ann Wilderabout this book: Too Many Cooks is about finding love after one is past the young and romantic stage. After the loss of one's first love and thinking they have to settle for being half a couple. Love can come at any time even for the not so young. I was inspired to write this book because I like the idea of love happening later to nice people. The title is Too Many Cooks because one of the main characters is an Italian Chef and he and his lady, the widow, Estelle, try to cook up a plan to get their two children together and it proves to be a disaster, unlike his special dishes.
The cover was chosen because we'd originally planned for a plate of spaghetti but it looked a little creepy and salad is so much more colorful. The hardest part of writing the book was making sure the loose ends were all tied up and to keep from getting hungry when describing Italian food. I did research in Italian cook books and magazines and hung around my friend's house who has an Italian husband who cooks.
I learned that no matter how you might plot your book, sometimes the characters take over and do what they want to do. Which in the end, makes for a better book. For my readers, I want to say that if the heart is in the right place and if you really keep your zest for life in full view, love can happen when you least expect it. I hope that everyone enjoys reading Too Many Cooks. It's fun and full of love with a little evil thrown in just to keep the reader wondering what's next on the menu.
