Susan Margabout this book: Get to know the "Fruitcake Lady." Marie Rudisill with Susan Marg tells all in her memoir "Ask Me Anything." Upon leaving Monroeville, Alabama, where she grew up and helped raise her nephew Truman Capote, she undertook one venture after another – collecting antiques, running a restaurant, renovating a historic home, and writing cookbooks. Well into her nineties, Marie gained some fame and much notoriety from her appearances on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno." She has much to say about that, too.
As Cheryl E. Rodriguez noted in her five-star review for Readers' Favorite, "Each story flows with smart humor, revealing analogies, metaphoric phrases and sensory descriptions. I felt I was sitting at a table, sipping coffee and eating pound cake, and listening to her endless tales of life in the South."
Jack Magnus, who also wrote a five-star review for Readers' Favorite, commented, "The memoir reads beautifully, with Rudisill's voice coming forth loudly and clearly. While she's no longer with us, she's still very much here in spirit."
