While I was writing it—I kept thinking about when I was young and went to Saint Pius Grammar School in Providence, Rhode Island, in the 1950s. I couldn't put that out of my mind. I started taking notes.
And the second I finished "Football"—I started writing "Nuns!"
"Nuns!' is full of humor and nostalgia. It's about a life no longer seen in America. It's about growing up and family and school.
It's about the things I did during those years. Going home for lunch ever day. Clapping erasers. Wearing a uniform. Marching in May Processions. Being an altar boy—not a very good one, but an altar boy nonetheless. Gregorian Chant. School plays. "Catholic arithmetic."
I think it would make a great streaming TV series—and I've been pitching it to Hollywood people.
I hope you enjoy it.
