Book: To Kill A King (The Crumbling Kingdom) by Jacob Donleycategories: Book, Short Story, Alternate World, Adventure, Medieval Fantasy
Jacob Donleyabout this book: To Kill A King is about a recent college grad who, down on his luck, attempts suicide and fails. The story starts with our protagonist, James, sitting in his bed realizing that he has more to live for. While contemplating his life, James accidentally transports himself to an alternate world set in an alternate Middle Ages. Upon arriving, while still trying to understand what has happened, James is accused of killing the king and is thrown in jail. How does James escape the dungeon and clear his name?
I originally was going to write this story as a novel. However, I decided that I wanted to see how it would work as a series of short stories. This short story is the first in a series that follows James through this new and interesting world to clear his name and save a kingdom. Follow him through his adventure as he deals with the conflicts of living in the Middle Ages and thwarting those who wish to see him dead.
