Author Conley A.R. Roseabout this book: Marijuana a blessing or a curse is a comprehensive research document on the pros and cons of marijuana production and use in St.Vincent and the Grenadines, Caribbean. It is a case study for serious social scientists. Researchers and social workers, examining in detail: marijuana reform laws, prohibition, decriminalization, alternative medicine - the potential and therapeutic uses and the war against marijuana.

I was inspired to write this book due to the fact that St.Vincent and the Grenadines -- an island of 150square miles, is known as the second largest marijuana producing country in the Caribbean, following Jamaica. In addition, the US state department has characterized St.Vincent as a "drug haven". Marijuana poses a serious problem in use of the herb and trafficking. A solution is needed to deal with the scourge of drugs, violence and deaths. The primary readers of this book are adults, police officers, teachers, social workers, marijuana users and researchers/social scientists. This book has a worldwide audience.

The book took me two years to be completed. I came up with the title from constructive analysis and logical reasoning of its contents. I choose this cover to display first of all the marijuana plants growing on the dangerous mountain tops to reveal the dangers terrains and slopes --topography. The sea in the background and the tropical environment conducive to marijuana cultivation. The hardest part of writing this book was the actual production process of writing, corrections, typesetting and preparing the layout and graphic designs for the book.

I have done extensive research for the book, locally, regionally and internationally to gather concrete facts and statistics. It involved interviews in the mountains, ghetto areas, countryside and government officials. I have learnt from writing the book that everyone has an opinion of his own and think differently. I simply wish to say to my readers that this book is exciting and mindboggling. Definitely worth the reading!
