Book: 50 Tips for Managing Change (Spearmint Tips Booklets Book 7) by Beverley Williamscategories: Book, Upset by Change, Dealing with Change, Transitioning Through Change, Making the Transition, Challenging Changes, Managing Change
Beverley Williamsabout this book: The pace of change is startling, when people used to emigrate not so many years ago they'd resign themselves to seeing their families very rarely for the rest of their lives, now our overseas relatives can join us for supper by Skype!
At work the people in the overseas offices or even in different cities would be voices on the phones for the most part, now we all talk by video conference or they pop up on your messenger throughout the day. It's been a long time since Charles Handy wrote the classic, 'The Empty Raincoat' but my goodness has it come to pass.
The thing is that lots of us don't enjoy change and even if we want it to happen the process is unsettling. I wrote this tips booklet so that people could have something to take away with them from meetings where they were being told about change. People absorb information at different rates and although they may get the information about what's going to happen, they are often left high and dry about what they may feel about the process of change. The people who often get the real brunt of this are team leaders and junior managers, they have to communicate and live it day to day and don't always get enough support. I don't think that's fair and I hope that this tips booklet has helped some people with the different aspects of change whether they are on the initiating or receiving end of it.
The cover is an actual spearmint leaf if you look closely, I wanted something zesty for the name of the tips booklets series!
