Ray Boydstunabout this book: It is a book of free verse "love" poetry taken from 50-60% of my surviving journal notes about this subject matter of a raving mad woman in 1990-1992. The story is told by the perpetrator rather than her victim as most poetry I read seems to be in the victim's voice. I love to invert things like that. It makes it more interesting in this case.
There are two main characters. One is a beautiful family woman, 39 years old, married with a son about seven months younger than her love interest whom she met while working as the secretary to the dean of the college library. She mixed together fantasy and reality. The other is a disabled college student, 21 years old, more than eighteen and a half years the woman's junior, who worked part-time in the college library where he encountered her. His life was interfered with in ways still felt to this day.
This is an example of what the woman says: "If I would have been there last night I would have hugged him.
I would have protected him from those unwelcomed sexual predators who touch him inappropriately.
But the thing is, I know what it's like to look at him, too.
I know what feelings he stirs up in others."
