Beckey Berryabout this book: Finding Peace After the Loss of a Parent is a book about my father's struggle with bladder cancer and my grieving process that followed. It is my honest and truthful feelings about the loss of my father and how to cope and grieve and help my mother at the same time.
I started out just writing down the events as they happened to be able to have them later on. Then after my father passed away it became therapy for me. As I wrote this I was filled with such emotions. There were times that I was so happy to think about the good times and fun we have had. Then there were times that I could hardly write more than 2 sentences a day because of the grief and pain that I was feeling.
This book is mainly for people who have lost a parent while they are in adulthood. It was hard to find anything that shared the story of how an adult child feels when they lose their parent. It is written very simple and came straight from my heart with the feelings at the time I was writing. The cover has a picture of a flower that was grown by my father. He loved gardening and I felt that something he grew needed to be on the front cover.
Finding Peace After the Loss of a Parent is a memorial to my father and his Christian life. He had tremendous faith. There are several stories and some devotionals that he wrote spread through the book. I recommend this book to anyone that has lost anyone close to them as a resource to realize you are not alone in your feelings.
