 On the Ball

Coolton Ascent is fairly apposite - credit crunch, dissolution of society. It predicts the collapse of financial markets and the end of New Britain, 2010. This out-of-the-body, other-worldly romance spans some 70 years (1964 - 2039) and is narrated by the centurian witch Sonjia, who in her final hours, rues her intervention in the soul of a drowned boy. It reveals a dystopian world of psychics and side kicks, violently obese have-nots, telepathic art dealers, soul retrieval and a glorious chain-smoking, erudite journalist who more than likely is the Devil. It is the final book of the Loot Trilogy.
