Eddie Owensabout this book: I decided to write The Great American Novel.
That was the easy part. What came next?
I grew up reading Harold Robbins' blockbusters like "The Carpetbaggers" and "79 Park Avenue", so I used that kind of journey as a template.
It had to be a love story, that was obvious to me from the start. I wanted strong male and female characters.
My modern day Romeo and Juliet needed to face epic challenges and deal with a lot of conflict, before a final reunion.
I wanted to highlight issues concerning prison and the military.
Here's what I came up with.
Please have a read and let me know what you think.
GOING TO THE SUN
An epic coming-of-age story.
Teenage romance leads to tragedy, then prison and war.
Throw in a crime and suspense thriller for the climax, and it all came together.
