Dr. Paul Russell Semendingerabout this book: A most wonderful journey in writing and reading. Scattering the Ashes is a novel that tells the story of a young man, Sam Holmes, who is forced to find himself when confronted with a unique task from his father that is revealed when his father's Last Will and Testament is read to him.
This book is a journey in thought as the reader will be taken into the life of Sam Holmes, an often confused young teacher, as he seeks to find his place in the world and his place with others. It takes a young woman, Rachel Parker, the true hero of the book, to help Sam find himself and become the better person he is capable of being.
I loved every minute of writing this book. It took me years and countless revisions. That being said, there were many times when the book seemed to write itself.
I originally thought that Sam was the hero, but only much later realized that it is Rachel who is the strongest character in the book.
I believe that this is a book that is very true to who people are. It's a book that is spiritual - it is a faith book, but not in a traditional way. I do feel like readers will ponder their faith as Sam shares his at times throughout the text. This book might help some people get closer to God.
This is also a book about a runner and the runner's mind.
Scattering the Ashes is a story of a good person, who, like so many, gets confused and caught up in things he doesn't understand. But, it is a story with heart and goodness and character.
I believe that people will read this book and be inspired to be their better selves. As readers transverse through the pages, I believe they will laugh, cry, and enjoy every word.
