about this book: SIMPLE TRUTH is the story of a young woman who lands a career-making assignment only to find her client may be exploiting immigrant workers. With each new revelation, she questions her client but she's also forced to face her own prejudices and to examine herself in ways she never imagined.
The idea for the story arose out my admiration for people like Oskar Shindler, Harriett Tubman, and Esther in the Bible. I've always wondered what I'd have done if I'd been in their shoes. Would I have been so brave? While most of us don't face situations where we put our lives in danger to help someone else, most of us do face situations in everyday life where we make tough decisions about whether to step in when we see injustice or walk on by. In reality, most of us can think of more reasons not to step in than to be so bold. In SIMPLE TRUTH, the main character must decide: What is she willing to sacrifice to help someone else?
