Jaro Berceabout this book: Years ago I was asked by a friend of mine: "Could you please enlighten me in understanding how to lead a multi-cultural team. At the time I had no idea to offer. It initiated a long period of researches at the end of which I published the book "Leadership by Virtue".
The book story is based on non-Western approach and on Wing Chun Philosophy for a personal growth in order to become an exceptional leader. The reader is shown from a first-person perspective the leadership process, corporate and also private trials. On the day to day basis reader follows the main character through his developments, struggles and challenges.
Most frequently people ask me how and what martial arts' philosophy has to do with leadership? Simply, by being practiced all around the world no matter of the background, ideology, color or gender, the basic philosophy stays the same. Leadership of multicultural teams, on the other hand, is today very much subjected to different cultural values, norms, ethics or, what I have named as "the cultural background noise" (the environment we grow up in has a great impact and influence our values, ethics and morals, mentally and subconsciously). With the globalization process the occurrence of multicultural teams are even more frequent and this is why I aimed my research toward the leadership that can bridge this "noise" and connect West and East, Internal and External.
The cover selection was easy. Dragon is deeply rooted in the Chinese culture it symbolizes power and excellence, valiancy and boldness, heroism and perseverance, nobility and divinity. It used to be the Imperial emblem of Chinese emperors – the leaders.
The book "Leadership by Virtue" is not another "how to do it" manual. It is rather "a tremendous learning experience" and a must read for anyone "who doesn't want to read something tense and get all that one desires from a textbook on leadership" as reviewers wrote.
