Book: Ashlynn's Dreams (Devya's Children Book 1) by Julie C. Gilbert
categories: Book, Young Adult, Southern, Genetic Alterations, Telepathy, Dreams, KidnappingJulie C. Gilbert

I wrote this book because I had done a series of short stories about this neat little kid named Jillian. Then, somebody told me that human trafficking is still a problem today, and I wanted to use the character to explore the topic in a YA friendly way.
Ashlynn the name means "Dream" so the title came naturally from the character Jillian, who is a genetically altered child with the ability to shape people's dreams. Some might argue that Jillian's Dreams might have been a better title, but I have my reasons for going with Ashlynn.
It took me about a month to come up with the rough draft, though if you count proofing time you could stretch that out to a year or more.
What I want to say to my readers:
Human trafficking isn't the center of this book, but it is an integral part of the sequels. I want to tell anybody and everybody that the issue is out there and they should get involved in fighting it any way they possibly can.
