Book: Alternative Jesus by Yosef Albriccategories: Book, Christianity, Life Jesus, Pharesees, Gospel Matthew, Jewish, Jesus
Yosef Albricabout this book: Jesus, in Christian theology, did one thing to earn the reputation of being the Son of God. This one thing was to upset the Jewish Hierarchy sufficiently to get himself crucified. This allowed Paul to claim that Jesus had fulfilled the scriptures and formulate the basic dogma of the modern Christian church.
But what was the truth about Jesus? The Gospel according to Matthew gives the most complete account of the life of Jesus and a translation of the Greek version of Matthew has been used as the anchor for Alternative Jesus.
The story that emerges is that Jesus was the result of an arranged marriage between two direct descendants of King David and was the legitimate King of the Jews. He was educated by the Pharisees to be the future King with the expectation that he would lead an uprising against the Romans and restore an independent Jewish state.
The Baptism of Jesus was supposed to be his coronation as King of the Jews and the beginning of the uprising, but Jesus and his cousin John had another agenda, that of bringing peace to Palestine.
At the Sermon on the Mount Jesus laid out his agenda and this bought him in direct conflict with the Pharisees. Having created Jesus the Pharisees had to destroy Jesus, but because they had created Jesus as the King of the Jews he had to be discredited and deposed of legally. There is much more to the story of Alternative Jesus.
Alternative Jesus also looks at the structure and dogma of the Christian Church and the discrepancies between the teachings of Jesus and the teachings of the Church.
