about this book: Chopper Music is an inspiring novella about a man finally breaking free from the demons of his past and fulfilling his destiny.
I got the idea for the book when, as a beginning adult student of classical piano, I was advised to take an RCM (Royal College of Music) grade 4 exam and joked about sitting in a waiting room with a bunch of 7 year-olds. That image formed the kernel for the novella. I like the idea that someone would be willing to set aside their own ego and place themselves in a situation that might, to the outside world, seem humiliating, in order to achieve their own personal goals.
Jackson Reilly, the protagonist, is willing to go the extra mile - to rise above the opinions and prejudices of others (and even himself) to achieve something great.
Anyone who likes to root for the underdog, likes to see someone rise up from the depths of despair, and likes to be inspired, will love this book.
