May J. Panayiabout this book: The story is about immigrants, a hot topic I know; but I have tried to look at it from all sides and ask who really wins in the end. It is fiction mixed in with the facts of what is happening in our world today, with a side of What If? I have invented some places, and even an entire religious group. I was inspired by George Orwell's work, particularly 1984, with it's sense of how the world could easily get really out of control, and Animal Farm, with how politicians can so easily run amok. I was also inspired by most of J.G.Ballard's work, where society heads pell mell towards dystopia, as in The Drowned World and High Rise. I like to think what I have written is provocative but not hateful. Why don't you take a look and see for yourself?
This book explores a whole range of human emotions and reactions about the modern world, if you start it with one opinion on the subject; hopefully you'll leave with a few more.
