Marla Martensonabout this book: Amateur Night is a short story about one dreadful night years ago that took place at a Chicago Steakhouse. Valentine's Day! Waiters frequently call this holiday "Amateur Night" because all of the people that normally do not frequent expensive restaurants come out in droves to send a romantic evening with their honey.
I was planning to write a whole book of humorous essays but realized that since it usually takes me about a year to write a book, (I have written four) I got antsy and decided that I would publish my short stories individually on Kindle. I loved this story so much that I didn't want to wait to share it.
• "Please allow me a moment to wipe away my tears of laughter. I have waited tables for several years, and, I can definitely relate to Marla's Valentine's Day experience." — Louise
• "I will have more compassion for waiters and waitresses who have to work these holidays after reading this. Husbands and fiances depicted in the short story are a riot!" — Lynne Dee
