Book Review: WTF - What is Wrong with Tom Faerie? by H M Leathemcategories: Books, Children's Books, humor
Insane and InterestingBasically, this story was hilarious. It was very random and thus, amusing. The story follows a bunch of college students from the University of Chicago who during their summer break, embark on a road trip. Tom Faerie, the main character, has a long-lived fascination with a girl named Gemma who in her blatant immaturity, runs away from him and brings her best friend Roxy, a rambling, clumsy blond. The ridiculous, short-statured villain, the aptly named Peter Buonaparte, hates Tom with a passion and knowing about Tom's obsession with Gemma, convinces Gemma and Roxy to bring him with for the ride.
Going from Chicago to California, to Easter Island, Scotland and finally England, the obsessive, nutty Tom commits quirky antics in order to prevent Peter's efforts to steal Gemma from him. Throughout the novel, someone gets hair removal creme snuck into their shampoo, one person gets put in jail twice and another is captured by cannibals, and to wrap it all up, there's cross-dressing and rowdy fighting. But in the end, everything comes together and the answer is given to the initial question: What is Wrong with Tom Faerie?
