Karen A. Wyleabout this book: What would you do to preserve the one you loved and lost? Ellie Simmons loved and lost her husband Daniel. Now, two years later, her baby Daniel is the first Daniel's clone. But human cloning is illegal, and no one can know.
This free short story was intended to be the first in a series of stories about human cloning, some involving the legal issues such cloning could raise. (I'm a lawyer, and would like to find more ways to combine my legal and writing careers.) I've been spending more time writing and revising novels, so the rest of the series hasn't materialized. Still could happen . . . .
I've recently discovered that there's a movie, The Womb, whose premise is similar to that of "The Baby": a woman clones her lost love and raises the baby. I haven't had time to watch it yet, but I'm quite curious to see whether the filmmakers and I went in the same direction.
