Book: Scary Stories - A Collection of Horror- Volume 4 (Chamber of Horror Series Book 7) by Billy Wells
categories: Book, Scary Stories, Horror Collection, Short Stories, Short Scary Stories, Halloween, HorrorBilly Wells

The writing for this book came easier than usual because while reading some reference books at Barnes & Noble I jotted down some strong ideas for new plots. It only took about three months to write.
Once I have the idea, the writing goes quickly. I continue to write longhand on my yellow pad, either in my golf cart or at B&N. I then dictate what I've written into Dragon, do a cursory edit, then edit it several more times while listening to it read to me while I review the printed copy. Since I started this process, I am writing much longer and much more complex stories. I like all my books, but this one is one of my favorites.
The primary readers of my books are horror fans. I make it clear in the book's description not to read my book if you don't like horror. Some of my stories are more thriller than horror, but the great majority are scary. Some have a considerable amount of gore.
I did some research on types of horrific bugs, what happens to corpses donated to medical science, vampire lore, freak show history, and hypnotism.
To me writing is more perspiration than inspiration. If I waited for inspiration, I probably wouldn't be writing very much. I am probably the most prolific writer in my weekly writing class, which helps me immensely with the editing. However, as I said, I need an idea to get started. Usually when I start a story, I know what direction the story will take, but I usually don't know the ending. The story actually writes itself as I put pen to paper.
So far, I've written 122 stories. My goal is to write 401.
