Jenny Twistabout this book: Tara Fox Hall and I met (on the net) in October 2011 when we both contributed to the anthology 'Spellbound 2011.' I was very proud to be in that book. I thought all the other authors were really good and they were also fun to work with.
Tara and I became special friends and since then have regularly critiqued each other's work and generally been supportive.
We were very disappointed when Melange did not publish a sequel the following year and so we asked them if we could do our own. Melange agreed and Bedtime Shadows is the result.
The title reflects Tara's 'Just Shadows' and my own 'Take One At Bedtime', both single author anthologies.
The stories are quirky and have no particular theme, although ghost and horror stories predominate. Other genres are romance, science fiction, paranormal and speculative. In my case the stories represented my entire short story output for a year. Tara is much more prolific than I and had plenty to choose from. I particularly wanted 'Shades of Grey' in the collection and had to beg her not to submit it elsewhere. It was a great one to end the book with, leaving you thinking about it for a long time afterwards.
I am, if anything, even more proud of this anthology than I was of 'Spellbound 2011'.
