Book: The Thing In The Pit by Cameron Josephcategories: Book, Fantasy, Fiction, Ghost, Paranormal, Supernatural, Horror
Cameron Josephabout this book: The story is about a family who moves to the wilderness of Kentucky down on their luck. Harrison is looking for extra work because his disability check is not enough to support his family. Harrison has a bad temper and a drinking problem. He meets Fred Potter and Fred offers him the job of tearing down his barn. When Harrison accepts the offer and starts working trouble begins. The Blackstone family, Colt Justice and Fred Potter find themselves face to face with the curse of the dark woods and the horrors of the pit.
I started writing "The thing in the pit" on a Friday evening and by the following Saturday afternoon, I had thirty-six thousand words in the first draft. Once I got the Blackstone family down in the first chapter it just flowed.
I wanted something different for my monster. And I like isolated locations for suspense and horror. When I started writing the story, Fred's barn was not part of the story. When I write I let the characters lead me. The Fred Potter character evolved in the first two chapters. I may have a setting or even character profiles, but I don't know how the story ends when I begin.
I hold readers and writer in the highest regard. I hope you enjoy "The thing in the pit" I had fun writing it.
