J.Z. Pinderabout this book: I was reading an article online about Madame Tussaud's world-renowned wax museum in London. Couple this with memories of Christmas shopping as a child in Wanamaker's huge department store in Philadelphia and one day I began writing this tale of horror and fantasy.
Tommy Perkins stared in wide-eyed fascination at the ghastly scene in the window. A tall man with a purple scar running the full length of his left cheek was strangling a beautiful young woman. The girl's eyes threatened to bulge out of their sockets while her hands clawed furiously at the cord mercilessly choking the life out of her.
Tommy is Christmas shopping in a giant Philadelphia department store. The boy had been curiously studying the store's window display advertising a wax museum. The museum depicts in wax many terrifying murderers. Tommy wanders around the store and inadvertently ends up locked in the store's Toyland overnight. It is during his longest night of sheer terror that his young eyes are subjected to unbelievable scenes of horror. Is he dreaming or is it really happening?
