Book Review: The Ming Inheritance - A Sam Collins Mystery by T. Hunt Lockecategories: Book, Thriller, Chiang Mai, Pattaya, Bangkok, Pai, Historical Thriller
T. Hunt Lockeabout this book: Being a lover of both history and literature it is not surprise that historical fiction is my favorite type of tale. These stories, when well conceived and written, can take you to another time and place and impart a little knowledge to boot.
So when I relocated to Thailand I searched for any such treatments this magnificent corner of the globe had produced. To my surprise I found none! This was somewhat disappointing at first but then the light-bulb went on; eureka! I had always planned on writing a novel, and had completed a master's degree in Asia-Pacific Studies, so the dye was thusly cast.
The Ming Inheritance is my first novel and in it I've created the character of Sam Collins as the main protagonist. Through Sam's adventures the reader will be able to learn a great deal about the Thailand of today and also gain much insight into the vibrant past this marvelous and intriguing land has to offer.
The hotels, restaurants, historical sites, bars, go-go bars are all real places so in many respects The Ming Inheritance also reads like a travelogue spanning from the foothills of the Himalayas to the beaches of the Andaman Sea. The historical elements are also based on the facts as we know them though of course the story itself is fiction.
So, if you are a fan of the historical fiction genre, or are planning a trip through the Land of Smiles, or simply looking for a 'good read,' give The Ming Inheritance a chance.

A romp through Thailand's past and presentThe Ming Inheritance is a fast-paced historical drama. Set in modern day Thailand, the story is built around an ancient Chinese mystery which I found quite interesting. It got me on to google to do a search anyway. But the history doesn't bog down what is a good adventure though sometimes the sex is over the top. All in all a good read!
