about this book: This book is about a young woman's fight to save her Virginia home, only to discover that her home is at sea, beside the man who turned her world upside down. I love playing around with history, not changing historical fact, but throwing my characters into the thick of it and instilling my own twists and turns. Like all the historical romance novels I write, I did a lot of research. This one involved ships and swamps and sinister pirates and a way of life where honor was the code by which men lived and died.

The title was in place before the book was written and refers to the ship itself and the heroine's mastery over tragedy. I knew the instant I saw the cover image that it perfectly embodied the characters of Raven and Dominique. As with any historical romance I write, I learn through research things I was not taught in school. I wasn't the best student in history class to say the least, and I never imagined how much I would come to love history and where it would lead.
