about this book: When hostilities break out in the American Civil War, Indian Territory is directly in the cross-hairs between Texas Confederates and Kansas Unionists. It is no surprise when the Cherokee Nation and four other major tribes are contested for manpower on both sides. In the thick of this are three brave, courageous CHIEFS, and each one takes a separate path. One wishes to remain Neutral, another wishes to lead his followers into the Confederacy, while a third leads his people like a Moses out of Indian Territory for Union-held Kansas. Nearby battles in Arkansas and Missouri also occupy the Indians of the Five Civilized Tribes.
Amid all the turmoil and warfare and battles, a love story plays out between a spy for the Chief who bangs he drum of Neutrality and the chief's beauiful daughter. The White Path is the path of peace, but the Red Path is that of war.
This historical romance novel is based on factual accounts and a great deal of research on the part of the author. It does for the Native American soldiers of the Civil War what Glory did for Black soldiers of the Civil War. It is sub-titled Indian Brigades in the Civil War.
