Book: The Fury of Dragons - A Tale of Roman Britain (Sword & Spirit series Book 2) by Renee Yancy
categories: Book, Roman Britain, Religion, Spirituality, Warrior, Slave, Historical Romance, St. Patrick, Faith, Ancient World, Historical FictionRenee Yancy

My inspiration for this story came from St. Patrick's 5th century Letter to the Soldiers of Coroticus, in which he asks heaven to let "the fury of dragons" fall upon the British chieftain Coroticus who stole Patrick's converts and "gave girls away like prizes."
Eleri struggles to reconcile her new faith that requires forgiveness with her desire for revenge on Coroticus.
I've spent ten years writing this novel, including a research trip to Scotland and England. I've researched Roman British cuisine and learned how to make woad. I visited The Fortress of the Britons on Dumbarton Rock in Scotland, explored the ancient site of Luguvalium, modern day Carlisle in England, and the site of St. Ninian's Candida Casa, the "white house" on the hill, in southwestern Scotland where Eleri learns to read and write Latin. I love books that immerse me in another culture and in other time periods and those are the kinds of stories I strive to write!
