about this book: This is the first installment of s series of novellas, chronicling the history of Detroit, Michigan, from it's days of ruin to it's days one of America's most important and vibrant cities. The jewel of the Midwest, as it was once called, will shine again.
Extensive research was done for this novella. I had to know each neighborhood of the city and the historical significance of each neighborhood over the course of 100 years. This book, and the series itself begins in the late 1800s. The great migration. This book is all about an exchange of cultures, the building of a multicultural society and the dream that together, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation of creed, humanity always finds a way to mend these petty differences. The book ends near 1910. The next book of the series will be heavily reliant on the outbreak of war in Europe, women's suffrage and the prohibition movement.
The theme being the resurrection of this great city again and again. Each time it seemed Detroit was down for the count, it would get up and change it's entire culture. I learned much from writing the book, obviously, and I hope to pass that knowledge and inspirational message on to my readers.
