My goal is to provide the scientifically-correct, easy to act on, information people need to understand and take control of their health. Who has more to gain from your good health than you?
Help, Bette! gives solid, upbeat answers to serious health problems, answers that give readers hope as well as information.
A drunk driver hit my parents' car when I was a baby, causing a concussion. And the concussion damaged my pituitary gland, as most concussions do. Well, the pituitary is king of the endocrine system, and the endocrine system controls all of health, so my health was knocked for a loop. But doctors said I was fine.
They continued to say I was fine even though my hair was gone, my brain was unreliable, and all my body function went into slow failure.
To have any kind of a life, I had to learn how the body works and what I could do to make my health better. Those were desperate days, and they're why I continue to research and write about health.
