Book: THE FORTH HOUSE by Cameron Josephcategories: Book, Horror, Ghost, Supernatural, Horror Fiction, Fantasy, Haunted House
Cameron Josephabout this book: The Forth House is about a haunted house located in rural Tennessee. I had the idea for the story for several months. I was working on a volume of several short stories. One of the stories was about a young couple, Billy and Laura Moon who decide to fraud their insurance company by faking Laura's death.
They happen to be out shopping and notice a mirror at an antique shop. They buy it for their apartment and place it in the hall. Then Billy starts to change. He hears voices from the mirror and sees terrifying images.
Laura has no idea until she notices Billy is not sleeping and finds him whispering in front of the mirror. She hears him laughing and cursing outside their bedroom. They struggle with money and she has been working extra hours and saving her money to go back home to Ohio.
She does not want to fake her death and does not trust Billy. Meanwhile, the mirror reveals to Billy not only does she plan to leave she's also having an affair. Heart-broken confused and enraged Billy plans to make sure Laura is with him forever.
I had a draft of The Forth House but I liked the young couple so I decided to place them in rural Tennessee. Where Billy is looking for extra work and accepts an offer to move into an abandoned house just outside of town.
He agrees to do small repairs in exchange for free rent. The first night they move in the horror begins. The young couple soon realizes there are no rooms for the living inside The Forth House.
