My original intent was to write a book about the lessons my mother never told me that women ought to know these days. I booked a writing vacation to begin to write the book. Four days before leaving, I got a message that my mother had been hit by a car in Rio de Janeiro while crossing the street. She needed two surgeries and wouldn't be able to live alone. So I canceled my vacation and went home to Brazil to care for her.
I spent ten days in Rio nursing my mother to health, closing her house and moving her into my sister's home. During the time, I began to understand my mother's wisdoms and what her life had been teaching me. My heart grew in love and compassion and this booked unfolded in Portuguese.
The wisdoms I discovered can be found in everyday life, just like the rice and beans I ate daily growing up in Brazil. It will help women be strong and go after their dreams without guilt or shame. It is a book to help women find harmony in their lives and be good role model for their daughters and others women who are learning by osmosis.
