Beverley Williamsabout this book: I remember my very first difficult situation as a brand new manager, I met my new team for the first time at a hotel in advance of a conference and I suddenly realised that they were all waiting for me to buy the drinks! I may have had a freshly minted Business Degree but I certainly didn't have any money or an expense account. I bought the drinks, put it on my credit card and almost collapsed with relief when no alarms went off at the till!
Over the next twenty odd years as a manager, trainer and director at pretty big companies, I had to handle many more difficult situations but I have never ever let a team member go into a situation where they may have to offer hospitality without checking if they have the means to pay for it, some things stay with you!
People will have difficult situations to handle during they careers, it's totally normal and these tips are transferable to many different areas. If you read it and just one jumps out at you, perfect, that's the one you need right now. No doubt next time you read it something different will make you sit up and take notice. That's how it works, we see what we need when we need it.
I hope you enjoy it and more importantly I hope you try some, it's very normal to be a little uncertain and good to have a 'coach' on your screen whenever you want it.
