Stephanie Collierabout this book: My debut novel, The Blood of the Black Rose, was actually written as a healing process that blew up into something that I fell in love with and continue to fall in love with every passing day. It is a dark book in a dark world, full of heartache and loss, but there is also hope and love. That's why I love it so much - it pulls on those emotions that people bury deep within themselves. I was able to lose myself in the characters I created and was able to feel for them every step of the way.
The title was actually chosen because of the new elements I brought to what can harm the vampire and the virgin white rose was the most intriguing of them to me (I am a huge lover of roses). It can draw a vampire to it with its smell and when they touch it, it can take the blood from them that they have taken from their victims as it opens and turns red. It then opens further as it sucks out their very essence, turning black and capturing their soul within it and their bodies turn to dust. Every black rose is a "dead" vampire, their souls forever imprisoned within the blood of the black rose.
But the story is essentially centered around Demyan and Alhena - two Gypsies thrust into a Nazi concentration camp and the curse that binds their souls. When she dies in the gas chamber, he is awakened to immortality by The Blood Countess, Elizabeth Bathory. He loses himself in the darkness as his humanity dies, until Alhena is reborn to him through the loops of time.
I understand that this isn't going to be a book for everyone, but it was the one for me and I hope people fall in love with it as much as I did.

Dark. Beautiful. Sexy!I had a very hard time putting this book down in order to do the things that needed to be done. Like work! Holy crap! I have been looking for something like this for quite a while and this author delivers! I can only handle so much Harlequin Romance type books and it seems nowadays that's what everyone is striving for in the romance category. This book though, perfect blend of romance and darkness. And the writing! It pulls you in from the very beginning and holds onto you throughout the entire book. It's elegant and descriptive, but not overly done. The story line was the most intriguing that I have read in a long time - a whole new take on the history of the vampire. The story was heartbreaking and real, lovely and devastating all together. You can tell that this book wasn't just written, but written with extreme emotion and the research that went into it had to have been crazy. I am so very glad that I heard about it on Twitter or I wouldn't have found it and that would have been a great loss. I will be following this author all the way because I can't wait for the next installation in The Immortal Darkness Chronicles. [by Crystal Lewis]
