Book: Escape From Ruskin Heights by Dana George
categories: Book, Thriller, Paranormal, Kansas City, Ghost, GhostsDana George

The houses I look to buy in these dreams are different, but share a few characteristics. They all have beautiful woodwork; the former owners have left antique furniture behind; and they're all haunted by spirits who don't want us there.
Twice, we have moved to a new state only to have a real estate agent show us the house featured in my dream months earlier. I have never gone in.
I had already been traditionally published twice, so I sat down to write a new book -- this one about a real estate agent who meets ghosts in the houses she represents. My books tend to surprise me and this one was no exception. The character was forced to move back to the area of Kansas City I grew up in, met ghosts with stories that frightened and inspired me, and faced down the emotional ghosts of her childhood.
Of the four books I have published, this was the most organic to write. The characters flowed and the story seemed to tell itself. I learned that we can't outrun our ghosts.
This is the first in a series of books, and I'm excited about how it turned out.
