Book: Promises to Keep - Book One of the Haverford Trilogy by Libby Grandycategories: Book, Paranormal, Haunted, Ghosts, Romance, Occult, Ghost
Libby Grandyabout this book: I originally wrote Promises to Keep, because I wondered what it would be like for a normal, emotionally stable person to actually have a ghostly experience. The character, Jenny, in the novel, moves into an old Victorian house with her husband and begins to hear a voice, giving her decorating advice. The ghost, Sarah, tells Jenny that if she revives the life in the house and makes it an exact replica of how it once was, she will be able to have the child she wants so badly. Unfortunately, Sarah has her own agenda, and the story takes a darker turn. When Jenny tells her husband, Michael, about Sarah, he becomes concerned about her sanity, and their relationship suffers. He is sent to California by his law firm for six months, but Jenny refuses to leave the house and Sarah. A beautiful co-worker does join him, resulting in an affair. By the time Michael discovers his wife is experiencing something real and regrets the affair, the marriage is in serious trouble. Judging from the reviews on Amazon, readers of Promimes to Keep seem to be able to suspend disbelief and relate to Jenny and her dilemma. As an author, that makes me very happy.
