Book: Captivated (Hope and Magic Book 1) by Amanda Steelcategories: Book, Fairytale, Magic, Witches, Urban, Modern, Fantasy
Amanda Steelabout this book: The story is about a woman named Hope. Her boyfriend uses a cursed bracelet to control her and make her stay with him. This leads to her trying to escape and discovering that she has powers of her own and the evil witch who supplied her boyfriend with the bracelet wants something from Hope.
I wrote this because I wanted to write about something normal like abuse in a relationship and combine it with a fantasy aspect. I'm a big fan of fairytales and wanted to write something for grownups, without the book turning into fifty shades of fairytale They are a few explicit scenes, but I tried to focus more on creating a story rather just blatantly writing pornography. A lot of my research involved Irish slang and going on the run from the police. I kept waiting for the police to show up on my doorstep demanding an explanation for that particular search on Google. Fortunately for me, that never happened.
I think that although this may appeal more to women, it's something which men may enjoy too.
